A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Excel Viewer 3.x (Spreadsheet Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown part of the component OCX ActiveX Control. Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in the ExcelOCX ActiveX control in ExcelViewer.ocx 3.1.0.6 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (Internet Explorer 7 crash) via a long (1) DoOleCommand, (2) FTPDownloadFile, (3) FTPUploadFile, (4) HttpUploadFile, (5) Save, (6) SaveWebFile, (7) HttpDownloadFile, (8) Open, or (9) OpenWebFile property value. The weakness was presented 05/02/2007 by shinnai (Website). The advisory is shared for download at moaxb.blogspot.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-2495 since 05/03/2007. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
