Details
A vulnerability was found in PyTorch up to 2.5.x. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a deserialization vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-502. The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently verifying that the resulting data will be valid. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
PyTorch is a Python package that provides tensor computation with strong GPU acceleration and deep neural networks built on a tape-based autograd system. In version 2.5.1 and prior, a Remote Command Execution (RCE) vulnerability exists in PyTorch when loading a model using torch.load with weights_only=True. This issue has been patched in version 2.6.0.
The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-32434 since 04/08/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 235263 (Azure Linux 3.0 Security Update: pytorch (CVE-2025-32434)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 2.6.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (235263), EUVD (EUVD-2025-11856) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-0857). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
