CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Formidable up to 3.5.2. This affects an unknown function. The manipulation leads to weak prng. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2025-46653. The attack is possible to be carried out remotely. No exploit exists. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Formidable up to 3.5.2 and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a weak prng vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-338. The product uses a Pseudo-Random Number Generator (PRNG) in a security context, but the PRNG's algorithm is not cryptographically strong. Impacted is integrity. The summary by CVE is:

Formidable (aka node-formidable) 2.1.0 through 3.x before 3.5.3 relies on hexoid to prevent guessing of filenames for untrusted executable content; however, hexoid is documented as not "cryptographically secure." (Also, there is a scenario in which only the last two characters of a hexoid string need to be guessed, but this is not often relevant.) NOTE: this does not imply that, in a typical use case, attackers will be able to exploit any hexoid behavior to upload and execute their own content.

It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2025-46653 since 04/26/2025. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1600.001 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

Upgrading to version 3.5.3 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at github.com. Applying the patch 022c2c5577dfe14d2947f10909d81b03b6070bf5 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
