Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.134/6.6.87/6.12.23/6.13.11/6.14.2. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function exynos_chipid_probe of the file ice_ptp.c of the component Soc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: samsung: exynos-chipid: Add NULL pointer check in exynos_chipid_probe() soc_dev_attr->revision could be NULL, thus, a pointer check is added to prevent potential NULL pointer dereference. This is similar to the fix in commit 3027e7b15b02 ("ice: Fix some null pointer dereference issues in ice_ptp.c"). This issue is found by our static analysis tool.
The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2025-23148 since 01/11/2025. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
