Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.0.7. Affected is the function test_no_shared_qgroup of the component btrfs. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a allocation of resources vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-770. The product allocates a reusable resource or group of resources on behalf of an actor without imposing any restrictions on the size or number of resources that can be allocated, in violation of the intended security policy for that actor. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix ulist leaks in error paths of qgroup self tests In the test_no_shared_qgroup() and test_multiple_refs() qgroup self tests, if we fail to add the tree ref, remove the extent item or remove the extent ref, we are returning from the test function without freeing the "old_roots" ulist that was allocated by the previous calls to btrfs_find_all_roots(). Fix that by calling ulist_free() before returning.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2022-49912 since 05/01/2025. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
