Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in TYPO3 up to 12.4.30/13.4.11. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Webhook Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. Impacted is integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
TYPO3 is an open source, PHP based web content management system. In versions on the 12.x branch prior to 12.4.31 LTS and the 13.x branch prior to 13.4.2 LTS, Webhooks are inherently vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), which can be exploited by adversaries to target internal resources (e.g., localhost or other services on the local network). While this is not a vulnerability in TYPO3 itself, it may enable attackers to blindly access systems that would otherwise be inaccessible. An administrator-level backend user account is required to exploit this vulnerability. Users should update to TYPO3 versions 12.4.31 LTS, 13.4.12 LTS to fix the problem.
The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2025-47936 since 05/14/2025. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. The exploitation requires an enhanced level of successful authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 09/03/2025).
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 236977 (TYPO3 12.0.0 < 12.4.31 / 13.0.0 < 13.4.12 (TYPO3-CORE-SA-2025-012)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 12.4.31 or 13.4.12 eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at Tenable (236977). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
