Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in phpSysInfo 2.0/2.1/2.3/2.4/2.5.1. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code block of the file index.php of the component Error Message Handler. The manipulation of the argument lng with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in index.php in phpSysInfo 2.5.1 allows remote attackers to determine the existence of arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) sequence and a trailing null (%00) byte in the lng parameter, which will display a different error message if the file exists.
The weakness was released 04/04/2003 by Micheal Turner and Albert Puigsech Galicia (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2006-3360 since 07/06/2006.
