A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Joomla CMS up to 1.0.9 (Content Management System). This vulnerability affects the function getuserstatefromrequest. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Joomla! before 1.0.10 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via unspecified parameters involving the (1) getUserStateFromRequest function, and the (2) SEF and (3) com_messages modules.
The weakness was disclosed 06/26/2006 (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-3480 since 07/10/2006. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
