This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-6052. There is not any exploit available.
Details
A vulnerability was found in GNOME glib (affected version not known). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function g_string_maybe_expand of the component GString. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. The impact remains unknown. CVE summarizes:
A flaw was found in how GLib’s GString manages memory when adding data to strings. If a string is already very large, combining it with more input can cause a hidden overflow in the size calculation. This makes the system think it has enough memory when it doesn’t. As a result, data may be written past the end of the allocated memory, leading to crashes or memory corruption.
The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-6052 since 06/13/2025. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 06/10/2026).
