Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.4.212/5.10.141/5.15.65/5.19.7. Affected by this vulnerability is the function fastrpc_session_alloc of the component misc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: misc: fastrpc: fix memory corruption on open The probe session-duplication overflow check incremented the session count also when there were no more available sessions so that memory beyond the fixed-size slab-allocated session array could be corrupted in fastrpc_session_alloc() on open().
It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2022-49950 since 06/18/2025. The exploitation appears to be easy. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 11/30/2025).
