Upgrading the affected component is recommended.
Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.19.1 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function clcdfb_of_init_display of the component video. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a reference count vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-911. The product uses a reference count to manage a resource, but it does not update or incorrectly updates the reference count. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: video: fbdev: amba-clcd: Fix refcount leak bugs In clcdfb_of_init_display(), we should call of_node_put() for the references returned by of_graph_get_next_endpoint() and of_graph_get_remote_port_parent() which have increased the refcount. Besides, we should call of_node_put() both in fail path or when the references are not used anymore.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2022-50109 since 06/18/2025. The attack may be launched remotely. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 297309 (EulerOS Virtualization 2.10.1 : kernel (EulerOS-SA-2026-1123)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 4.14.291, 4.19.256, 5.4.211, 5.10.137, 5.15.61, 5.18.18 or 5.19.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 2688df86c02da6bdc9866b62d974e169a2678883/a97ff8a949dbf41be89f436b2b1a2b3d794493df/49a4c1a87ef884e43cdda58b142a2a30f2f09efc/da276dc288bf838ea0fd778b5441ec0f601c69f7/29f06f1905c312671a09ee85ca92ac04a1d9f305/a51519ebd0fdad3546463018b8f6bc3b0f4d3032/a88ab277cca99aeb9a3b2b7db358f1a6dd528b0c/26c2b7d9fac42eb8317f3ceefa4c1a9a9170ca69 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (297309) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-1350). Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
