Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 5.19.3. Affected by this issue is the function of_parse_phandle of the component pinctrl. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a reference count vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-911. The product uses a reference count to manage a resource, but it does not update or incorrectly updates the reference count. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pinctrl: nomadik: Fix refcount leak in nmk_pinctrl_dt_subnode_to_map of_parse_phandle() returns a node pointer with refcount incremented, we should use of_node_put() on it when not need anymore. Add missing of_node_put() to avoid refcount leak."
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2022-50061 since 06/18/2025. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
Upgrading to version 4.9.326, 4.14.291, 4.19.256, 5.4.211, 5.10.138, 5.15.63 or 5.19.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
