This vulnerability is referenced as CVE-2022-50138. No exploit is available.
It is recommended to upgrade the affected component.
Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 5.10.136/5.15.60/5.18.17/5.19.1. Affected by this issue is the function __qedr_alloc_mr of the component RDMA. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: RDMA/qedr: Fix potential memory leak in __qedr_alloc_mr() __qedr_alloc_mr() allocates a memory chunk for "mr->info.pbl_table" with init_mr_info(). When rdma_alloc_tid() and rdma_register_tid() fail, "mr" is released while "mr->info.pbl_table" is not released, which will lead to a memory leak. We should release the "mr->info.pbl_table" with qedr_free_pbl() when error occurs to fix the memory leak.
The advisory is available at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2022-50138 since 06/18/2025. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 264665 (SUSE SLES12 Security Update : kernel (SUSE-SU-2025:03204-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
Upgrading to version 5.10.137, 5.15.61, 5.18.18 or 5.19.2 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 79ce50dddaf28b5c57911ecc80a2be17a0b17f83/7e647a8d5fc0a2c8e0f36f585a6388286a25bb15/07ba048df306dc93fc4d2ef670b9e24644a2069f/b4c9f7db9f0148423557539af0fdf513338efe08/b3236a64ddd125a455ef5b5316c1b9051b732974 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (264665) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-1350). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
