Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) by setting the Transition property on an uninitialized DXImageTransform.Microsoft.RevealTrans.1 ActiveX Object, which triggers a null dereference.
The issue has been introduced in 08/27/2001. The weakness was released 07/12/2006 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-3605 since 07/14/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
