Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) by setting the location or URL property of a MHTMLFile ActiveX object.
The issue has been introduced in 03/22/2001. The weakness was disclosed 07/16/2006 by H D Moore (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2006-3659 since 07/17/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1499 for this issue.
