Details
A vulnerability was found in Game Users Share Buttons Plugin up to 1.3.0 on WordPress and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function ajaxDeleteTheme. The manipulation of the argument themeNameId with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Game Users Share Buttons plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the ajaxDeleteTheme() function in all versions up to, and including, 1.3.0. This makes it possible for Subscriber-level attackers to add arbitrary file paths (such as ../../../../wp-config.php) to the themeNameId parameter of the AJAX request, which can lead to remote code execution.
