This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2025-7425. Local access is required to approach this attack. No exploit exists.
Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in libxslt (unknown version). Affected by this issue is the function key of the component Attribute Type Handler. The manipulation of the argument atype with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A flaw was found in libxslt where the attribute type, atype, flags are modified in a way that corrupts internal memory management. When XSLT functions, such as the key() process, result in tree fragments, this corruption prevents the proper cleanup of ID attributes. As a result, the system may access freed memory, causing crashes or enabling attackers to trigger heap corruption.
