PHP remote file inclusion vulnerability in /lib/tree/layersmenu.inc.php in the PHP Layers Menu 2.3.5 package for MyNewsGroups :) 0.6b and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP code via a URL in the myng_root parameter.
The weakness was presented 07/31/2006 by Philipp Niedziela (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bb-pcsecurity.de. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2006-3966 since 08/01/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
