Details
A vulnerability was found in Samsung WLAN AP WEA453e. It has been rated as very critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the component Tech Support Diagnostic. The manipulation of the argument command1/command2 with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
An unauthenticated remote command execution vulnerability exists in Samsung WLAN AP WEA453e firmware prior to version 5.2.4.T1 via improper input validation in the “Tech Support” diagnostic functionality. The command1 and command2 POST or GET parameters accept arbitrary shell commands that are executed with root privileges on the underlying operating system. An attacker can exploit this by crafting a request that injects shell commands to create output files in writable directories and then access their contents via the download endpoint. This flaw allows complete compromise of the device without authentication. Exploitation evidence was observed by the Shadowserver Foundation on 2025-02-04 UTC.
The weakness was shared by Omri Inbar. The advisory is available at omriinbar.medium.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-34068 since 04/15/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 11/20/2025). This vulnerability is assigned to T1202 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 5.2.4.T1 eliminates this vulnerability.
