Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in CODESYS Control RTE, Control RTE SL, Control Win, HMI, Runtime Toolkit, Control for BeagleBone SL, Control for emPC-A, iMX6 SL, Control for IOT2000 SL, Control for Linux ARM SL, Control for Linux SL, Control for PFC100 SL, Control for PFC200 SL, Control for PLCnext SL, Control for Raspberry Pi SL, Control for WAGO Touch Panels 600 SL and Virtual Control SL. This affects an unknown part of the component PKI Folder. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a permission assignment vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-732. The product specifies permissions for a security-critical resource in a way that allows that resource to be read or modified by unintended actors. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
A low-privileged attacker can remotely access the PKI folder of the CODESYS Control runtime system and thus read and write certificates and its keys. This allows sensitive data to be extracted or to accept certificates as trusted. Although all services remain available, only unencrypted communication is possible if the certificates are deleted.
The weakness was disclosed by Luca Borzacchiello as VDE-2025-051. The advisory is shared at certvde.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2025-41659 since 04/16/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at EUVD (EUVD-2025-23491) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-1705). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
