Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Red Hat Keycloak (the affected version unknown). This affects an unknown part of the component E-mail Registration. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a crlf injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-93. The product uses CRLF (carriage return line feeds) as a special element, e.g. to separate lines or records, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes CRLF sequences from inputs. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A vulnerability was found in Keycloak-services. Special characters used during e-mail registration may perform SMTP Injection and unexpectedly send short unwanted e-mails. The email is limited to 64 characters (limited local part of the email), so the attack is limited to very shorts emails (subject and little data, the example is 60 chars). This flaw's only direct consequence is an unsolicited email being sent from the Keycloak server. However, this action could be a precursor for more sophisticated attacks.
The advisory is shared at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2025-8419 since 07/31/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 01/08/2026).
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 246413 (Keycloak <= 26.3.2 SMTP Inject (GHSA-qj5r-2r5p-phc7)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (246413) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-1739). If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
