A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in osCommerce 2.2 Ms2 2006-08-17 (E-Commerce Management Software). This affects an unknown code of the file cache.php of the component Installation. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in cache.php in osCommerce before 2.2 Milestone 2 060817 allow remote attackers to determine existence of arbitrary files and disclose the installation path via a .. (dot dot) in unspecified parameters in the (1) tep_cache_also_purchased, (2) tep_cache_manufacturers_box, and (3) tep_cache_categories_box functions.
The weakness was disclosed 08/22/2006 (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-4298 since 08/22/2006. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
It is declared as highly functional. By approaching the search of inurl:cache.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 2.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
