A vulnerability was found in LibTIFF 4.7.0. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function _TIFFmallocExt/_TIFFCheckRealloc/TIFFHashSetNew/InitCCITTFax3 of the file tools/tiffcmp.c of the component tiffcmp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. Impacted is availability.

Applying the patch ed141286a37f6e5ddafb5069347ff5d587e7a4e0 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at gitlab.com.
