Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.147/6.6.101/6.12.41/6.15.9/6.16.0. This issue affects the function generate_encryptionkey of the component ksmbd. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ksmbd: fix null pointer dereference error in generate_encryptionkey If client send two session setups with krb5 authenticate to ksmbd, null pointer dereference error in generate_encryptionkey could happen. sess->Preauth_HashValue is set to NULL if session is valid. So this patch skip generate encryption key if session is valid.
