AOL ICQ Toolbar 1.3 for Internet Explorer (toolbaru.dll) does not properly validate the origin of the configuration web page (options2.html), which allows user-assisted remote attackers to provide a web page that contains disguised checkboxes that trick the user into reconfiguring the toolbar.
The weakness was presented 09/08/2006 by Lucas Lavarello (Basti) with CORE Security Technologies (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-4661 since 09/08/2006. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:options2.html it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
