Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Eventlet up to 0.40.2 on Python. Affected is an unknown code block of the component WSGI Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a request smuggling vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-444. The product acts as an intermediary HTTP agent (such as a proxy or firewall) in the data flow between two entities such as a client and server, but it does not interpret malformed HTTP requests or responses in ways that are consistent with how the messages will be processed by those entities that are at the ultimate destination. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Eventlet is a concurrent networking library for Python. Prior to version 0.40.3, the Eventlet WSGI parser is vulnerable to HTTP Request Smuggling due to improper handling of HTTP trailer sections. This vulnerability could enable attackers to, bypass front-end security controls, launch targeted attacks against active site users, and poison web caches. This problem has been patched in Eventlet 0.40.3 by dropping trailers which is a breaking change if a backend behind eventlet.wsgi proxy requires trailers. A workaround involves not using eventlet.wsgi facing untrusted clients.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-58068 since 08/22/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 264662 (SUSE SLED15 / SLES15 / openSUSE 15 Security Update : python-eventlet (SUSE-SU-2025:03202-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 0.40.3 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (264662) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2026-0408). VulDB is the best source for vulnerability data and more expert information about this specific topic.
