SAP NetWeaver AS Java 7.50 JAVA IIOP Service predictable state

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in SAP NetWeaver AS Java 7.50. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component JAVA IIOP Service. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a predictable state vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-341. A number or object is predictable based on observations that the attacker can make about the state of the system or network, such as time, process ID, etc. Impacted is confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:

Due to the lack of randomness in assigning Object Identifiers in the SAP NetWeaver AS JAVA IIOP service, an authenticated attacker with low privileges could predict the identifiers by conducting a brute force search. By leveraging knowledge of several identifiers generated close to the same time, the attacker could determine a desired identifier which could enable them to access limited system information. This poses a low risk to confidentiality without impacting the integrity or availability of the service.

The advisory is shared at me.sap.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2025-42925 since 04/16/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1600.001 for this issue.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-1989). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
