Details
A vulnerability has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.16.1/6.17-rc1 and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function put of the component drm. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use after free vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-416. Referencing memory after it has been freed can cause a program to crash, use unexpected values, or execute code. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/xe/migrate: prevent potential UAF If we hit the error path, the previous fence (if there is one) has already been put() prior to this, so doing a fence_wait could lead to UAF. Tweak the flow to do to the put() until after we do the wait. (cherry picked from commit 9b7ca35ed28fe5fad86e9d9c24ebd1271e4c9c3e)
