Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 5.4.296/5.10.240/5.15.189/6.0.15/6.1.1. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function acpi_fetch_acpi_dev of the component ACPI. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ACPI: processor: idle: Check acpi_fetch_acpi_dev() return value The return value of acpi_fetch_acpi_dev() could be NULL, which would cause a NULL pointer dereference to occur in acpi_device_hid().
