Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.15/6.2.2. Affected by this issue is the function devm_kzalloc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/msm/dpu: check for null return of devm_kzalloc() in dpu_writeback_init() Because of the possilble failure of devm_kzalloc(), dpu_wb_conn might be NULL and will cause null pointer dereference later. Therefore, it might be better to check it and directly return -ENOMEM. Patchwork: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/512277/ [DB: fixed typo in commit message]
