CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in VMware Spring Framework up to 5.3.44/6.1.22/6.2.10 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component EnableMethodSecurity. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a improper authorization vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-285. The product does not perform or incorrectly performs an authorization check when an actor attempts to access a resource or perform an action. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

The Spring Framework annotation detection mechanism may not correctly resolve annotations on methods within type hierarchies with a parameterized super type with unbounded generics. This can be an issue if such annotations are used for authorization decisions. Your application may be affected by this if you are using Spring Security's @EnableMethodSecurity feature. You are not affected by this if you are not using @EnableMethodSecurity or if you do not use security annotations on methods in generic superclasses or generic interfaces. This CVE is published in conjunction with CVE-2025-41248 https://spring.io/security/cve-2025-41248 .

The advisory is shared for download at spring.io. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-41249 since 04/16/2025. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 01/29/2026). The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1548.002.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 265379 (Spring Framework 5.3.x < 5.3.45 / 6.1.x < 6.1.23 / 6.2.x < 6.2.11 Annotation Detection Vulnerability (CVE-2025-41249)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 5.3.45, 6.1.23 or 6.2.11 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (265379), EUVD (EUVD-2025-29537) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2025-2060). VulDB is the best source for vulnerability data and more expert information about this specific topic.
