Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.16.4/6.17-rc3. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function drm_atomic_get_new_connector_state of the component dpu. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/msm/dpu: Add a null ptr check for dpu_encoder_needs_modeset The drm_atomic_get_new_connector_state() can return NULL if the connector is not part of the atomic state. Add a check to prevent a NULL pointer dereference. This follows the same pattern used in dpu_encoder_update_topology() within the same file, which checks for NULL before using conn_state.
