Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.4.11. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function user_mappings. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory leak vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-401. The product does not sufficiently track and release allocated memory after it has been used, which slowly consumes remaining memory. This is going to have an impact on availability. CVE summarizes:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: accel/habanalabs: fix mem leak in capture user mappings This commit fixes a memory leak caused when clearing the user_mappings info when a new context is opened immediately after user_mapping is captured and a hard reset is performed.
The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2023-53367 since 09/17/2025. The exploitability is told to be difficult. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 265627 (Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2023-53367), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
