A vulnerability was found in ILIAS up to 8.23/9.13/10.1 (Learning Management Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component Certificate Import Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a remote code execution vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The advisory is shared at docu.ilias.de. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2025-11344. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059 for this issue.
A private exploit has been developed by Rene Rehme. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 8.24, 9.14 or 10.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
