A vulnerability was found in wonderwhy-er DesktopCommanderMCP up to 0.2.13. It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function isPathAllowed of the file src/tools/filesystem.ts. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a symlink vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. This could allow an attacker to cause the product to operate on unauthorized files. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was released by Max Alster-Caminer (crem) with Mantel as 219. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-11489.
