Unspecified vulnerability in Oracle Spatial component in Oracle Database 9.0.1.5, 9.2.0.6, and 10.1.0.3 has unknown impact and remote authenticated attack vectors related to mdsys.sdo_tune, aka Vuln# DB18. NOTE: as of 20061023, Oracle has not disputed reports from reliable third parties that DB18 might be related to SQL injection in the EXTENT_OF function.

The weakness was released 10/17/2006 by Alexander Kornbrust with Application Security, Inc. (Website). The advisory is shared for download at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2006-5342 since 10/17/2006. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The successful exploitation needs a authentication. Technical details and a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56054 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (October 2006 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
