Multiple unspecified vulnerabilities in Oracle Spatial component in Oracle Database 8.1.7.4, 9.0.1.5, 9.2.0.7, and 10.1.0.4 have unknown impact and remote authenticated attack vectors related to (1) mdsys.sdo_3gl, aka Vuln# DB20, and (2) mdsys.sdo_cs, aka DB21. NOTE: as of 20061023, Oracle has not disputed reports from reliable third parties that DB20 is a buffer overflow in GEOM_OPERATION, and DB21 is related to a buffer overflow and SQL injection in TRANSFORM_LAYER.

The weakness was presented 10/17/2006 by Alexander Kornbrust with Application Security, Inc. (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-5344 since 10/17/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56054 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (October 2006 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19211 (Oracle October 2006 Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities).
