Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Tomofun Furbo 360 and Furbo Mini (Firmware Software) (the affected version unknown). Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the component Bluetooth Low Energy. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cleartext transmission vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-319. The product transmits sensitive or security-critical data in cleartext in a communication channel that can be sniffed by unauthorized actors. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality.
The bug was discovered 05/15/2025. The weakness was released by Calvin Star, Julian B (skelet4r and dead1nfluence) with Software Secured. An attacker who is located within BLE range (up to 50 meters) of a device which is being added to a new network can sniff this traffic and obtain the Wi-Fi SSID and password transmitted from the Furbo App to the device. This may allow them to gain unauthorized access to the victim's Wi-Fi network where additional attacks could be launched against the Furbo or other devices connected to that network. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2025-11640. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack needs to be done within the local network. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1040 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 149 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around . The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way. The firmware versions determined to be affected are Furbo 360 up to FB0035_FW_036 and Furbo Mini up to MC0020_FW_074. Replication Steps: 1. Configure a BLE Adapter like the NRF 52840m in order to sniff ble traffic 2. Configure Wireshark to support BLE Snooping 3. Start Wireshark Capture and specify the Connection you want to follow 4. Observe the traffic between the victim mobile app and Furbo as the device is being configured 5. Parse the capture file and identify the HEX encoded WiFi Details that were transmitted
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at EUVD (EUVD-2025-33904). Statistical analysis made it clear that VulDB provides the best quality for vulnerability data.
