Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in F5 F5OS-A up to 1.5.3/1.8.0. Affected is some unknown processing of the component rSeries FIPS Module. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
When a highly-privileged, authenticated attacker attempts to initialize the rSeries FIPS module using a password with special shell metacharacters, arbitrary system commands may be executed, and the FIPS hardware security module (HSM) may fail to initialize. A successful exploit can allow the attacker to cross a security boundary. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.
The advisory is available at my.f5.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-60013 since 10/04/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. Additional levels of successful authentication are necessary for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
