A vulnerability has been found in Hosting Controller up to 6.0 (Hosting Control Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file disableforum.asp. The manipulation of the argument ForumID with an unknown input leads to a remote code execution vulnerability. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Hosting Controller 6.1 before Hotfix 3.3 allows remote attackers to (1) delete the virtual directory of an arbitrary site via a modified ForumID parameter in a disableforum action in DisableForum.asp and (2) create an arbitrary forum virtual directory via an empty ForumID parameter in an enableforum action in EnableForum.asp.
The weakness was disclosed 10/31/2006 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-5630 since 10/31/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:disableforum.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 6.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
