Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.1.157/6.6.113/6.12.54/6.17.4. It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function __free of the component usb. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: gadget: f_rndis: Refactor bind path to use __free() After an bind/unbind cycle, the rndis->notify_req is left stale. If a subsequent bind fails, the unified error label attempts to free this stale request, leading to a NULL pointer dereference when accessing ep->ops->free_request. Refactor the error handling in the bind path to use the __free() automatic cleanup mechanism.
