Integer overflow in the TIFF parser in OpenOffice.org (OOo) before 2.3; and Sun StarOffice 6, 7, and 8 Office Suite (StarSuite); allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a TIFF file with crafted values of unspecified length fields, which triggers allocation of an incorrect amount of memory, resulting in a heap-based buffer overflow.

The bug was discovered 09/17/2007. The weakness was published 09/18/2007 with iDefense (Website). The advisory is available at openoffice.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-2834 since 05/24/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
