Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Foreman (version unknown) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the component Transpiler Command Handler. The manipulation of the argument ct_location/fcct_location with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

A flaw was found in Red Hat Satellite (Foreman component). This vulnerability allows an authenticated user with edit_settings permissions to achieve arbitrary command execution on the underlying operating system via insufficient server-side validation of command whitelisting.

The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2025-10622. The exploitation appears to be easy. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 11/11/2025). MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 274589 (RHEL 9 : Satellite 6.17.6 Async Update (Important) (RHSA-2025:19832)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (274589) and EUVD (EUVD-2025-37786). Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
