Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Eclipse Jersey 2.45/3.0.16/3.1.9. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the component SSL Setting Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The product contains a code sequence that can run concurrently with other code, and the code sequence requires temporary, exclusive access to a shared resource, but a timing window exists in which the shared resource can be modified by another code sequence that is operating concurrently. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In Eclipse Jersey versions 2.45, 3.0.16, 3.1.9 a race condition can cause ignoring of critical SSL configurations - such as mutual authentication, custom key/trust stores, and other security settings. This issue may result in SSLHandshakeException under normal circumstances, but under certain conditions, it could lead to unauthorized trust in insecure servers (see PoC)

The weakness was published by Dimitri Tenenbaum as 74. The advisory is available at gitlab.eclipse.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-12383 since 10/28/2025.
