Details
A vulnerability was found in Conxint Conxint FTP Server 2.2.0603 (File Transfer Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in Conxint FTP Server 2.2.0603, and possibly earlier, allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files and list arbitrary directories via directory traversal sequences in (1) DIR (LIST or NLST) and (2) GET (RETR) commands. NOTE: the provenance of this information is unknown; details are obtained from third party sources.
The weakness was presented 11/16/2006 by Greg Linares (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2006-5947 since 11/16/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
