Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Opto22 GRV-EPIC-PR1, GRV-EPIC-PR2, groov RIO GRV-R7-MM1001-10, groov RIO GRV-R7-MM2001-10 and groov RIO GRV-R7-I1VAPM-3 up to 4.0.2. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component REST API. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability exists in the Opto22 Groov Manage REST API on GRV-EPIC and groov RIO Products that allows remote code execution with root privileges. When a POST request is executed against the vulnerable endpoint, the application reads certain header details and unsafely uses these values to build commands, allowing an attacker with administrative privileges to inject arbitrary commands that execute as root.
The weakness was disclosed by Nik Tsytsarkin as icsa-25-324-03. The advisory is shared for download at cisa.gov. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-13087 since 11/12/2025. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are required for exploitation.
