A vulnerability was found in zauberzeug nicegui up to 3.3.x. It has been classified as critical. Affected is the function App.add_media_files. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. NiceGUI is a Python-based UI framework. Versions 3.3.1 and below are vulnerable to directory traversal through the App.add_media_files() function, which allows a remote attacker to read arbitrary files on the server filesystem. This issue is fixed in version 3.4.0.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2025-66645 since 12/05/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy.
