Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in ConnectWise ScreenConnect up to 25.7 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the component Extension Subsystem. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code download vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-494. The product downloads source code or an executable from a remote location and executes the code without sufficiently verifying the origin and integrity of the code. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In versions of ScreenConnect™ prior to 25.8, server-side validation and integrity checks within the extension subsystem could allow the installation and execution of untrusted or arbitrary extensions by authorized or administrative users. Abuse of this behavior could result in the execution of custom code on the server or unauthorized access to application configuration data. This issue affects only the ScreenConnect server component; host and guest clients are not impacted. ScreenConnect 25.8 introduces enhanced server-side configuration handling and integrity checks to ensure only trusted extensions can be installed.

The advisory is available at connectwise.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2025-14265 since 12/08/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Additional levels of successful authentication are needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1495 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
