Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.17.10. It has been classified as critical. This affects some unknown processing of the component io_uring. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: io_uring/net: ensure vectored buffer node import is tied to notification When support for vectored registered buffers was added, the import itself is using 'req' rather than the notification io_kiocb, sr->notif. For non-vectored imports, sr->notif is correctly used. This is important as the lifetime of the two may be different. Use the correct io_kiocb for the vectored buffer import.
It is possible to read the advisory at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2025-68294 since 12/16/2025. The exploitability is told to be easy. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 02/22/2026).
