n8n up to 1.120.3/1.121.0 dynamically-managed code resources

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in n8n up to 1.120.3/1.121.0. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a dynamically-managed code resources vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-913. The product does not properly restrict reading from or writing to dynamically-managed code resources such as variables, objects, classes, attributes, functions, or executable instructions or statements. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Versions starting with 0.211.0 and prior to 1.120.4, 1.121.1, and 1.122.0 contain a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in their workflow expression evaluation system. Under certain conditions, expressions supplied by authenticated users during workflow configuration may be evaluated in an execution context that is not sufficiently isolated from the underlying runtime. An authenticated attacker could abuse this behavior to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the n8n process. Successful exploitation may lead to full compromise of the affected instance, including unauthorized access to sensitive data, modification of workflows, and execution of system-level operations. This issue has been fixed in versions 1.120.4, 1.121.1, and 1.122.0. Users are strongly advised to upgrade to a patched version, which introduces additional safeguards to restrict expression evaluation. If upgrading is not immediately possible, administrators should consider the following temporary mitigations: Limit workflow creation and editing permissions to fully trusted users only; and/or deploy n8n in a hardened environment with restricted operating system privileges and network access to reduce the impact of potential exploitation. These workarounds do not fully eliminate the risk and should only be used as short-term measures.

The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-68613 since 12/19/2025. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available.

It is declared as attacked. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 279637 (n8n Node.js Package 0.211.0 < 1.120.4 / 1.121.0 Remote Code Execution via Expression Injection (CVE-2025-68613)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. This issue was added on 03/11/2026 to the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog with a due date of 03/25/2026:

Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.

Upgrading to version 1.120.4 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 08f332015153decdda3c37ad4fcb9f7ba13a7c79 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
